Dan Barringer and John Kotch

After spending many years in the Food & Beverage Industry, co-owners Dan Barringer and John Kotch started Dish Functions, Inc. in 2008… for perfect parties and special events!

John is a rising star and event planner on the Chicago social scene. Inspired by some of the great chefs of Chicago, he is known for creating new takes on comfort food, a reputation that earns him kudos for sophistication and presentation.

John’s passion for cooking began in his early years when he tagged along with his mother to the grocery store, pondering all the amazing food that landed on his family’s dinner table each night. To this day he loves the warm feeling of a small get-together, and structures even large functions to feel cozy and friendly.

John: "My vision is simply to create great bursts of flavor with exciting visual appeal and to see my friends and customers enjoy themselves. I feel lucky to be able to carry out my passion for cooking and sharing it with others."

Dan has over 20 years’ experience in Food and Beverage Management. He has held positions including Restaurant General Manager/Director of Restaurant Operations at Omni Hotels. Since 2001 he has hung his hat at Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak and Stone Crab, as Bar Manager/Bartender.

He was also featured in the Chicago Reader as "One Chicago’s Top Bartenders."

According to Dan, "We just look at these events as means to do what we love; take care of people and put smiles on their faces. This carries over to our staff members as well. We feel successful only when they’ve had a great day working with us."
